<p><strong>&#8230;and second I am OFFICIALLY on vacation!</strong></p>
<p>My wife and I both finished up work today and we are packing up the Murano with Matea and all her &#8220;stuffed&#8221; friends and hittin&#8217; the road on Sunday to the beautiful East Coast of New Brunswick here in Canada.</p>

<p>We will be gone for a couple weeks, spending some time at Kathy&#8217;s  sisters as well as taking Matea to Magic Mountain waterpark and Crystal  Palace amusement park.</p>
<p>I am also looking forward to hitting the  most beautiful beaches  North of Virginia as we have a cottage booked  for 3 nights in Shediac during  the Lobster Festival.</p>
<p>I hope we have better luck in New Brunswick this time around than we did  when we bought the car 2 years ago there and got rear ended at a stop  sign by some guy on a motorcycle&#8230;</p>

<p>&#8230;and I intend to get my hands on the famous 36 ft Lobster&#8230;even if he  is a cast-iron crustacean!</p>

<p>As for my <strong><a href="http://www.dadsfitness.com">3 workouts a week</a></strong>, personally I like to take 2 weeks off from my  workouts once a year during our summer vacation to rest my body and mind.</p>

<p>After another year of consistent Dad Fitness workouts and natural  eating I will take this time to relax with my family and enjoy some fine food.</p>

<p><strong>&#8220;What do YOUR workout routine look like?</strong></p>

<p>It works for me and it&#8217;s working for other busy dads all around the world.</p>
<p>But this year I have been improving the Dad Fitness workouts to better fit MY busy lifestyle and for all of YOU living the Dad Fitness lifestyle as well.</p>
<p>You see, being a busy dad and husband working a full-time job and running a business on the side doesn&#8217;t allow me to spend 5-6 days a week working out at the gym to stay fit.</p>

<p>I will be honest though, I LOVE working out at the gym, especially our little dungeon of a gym here in town. No lineups, no machines, just torn up benches with some rusty barbells and dumbbells. I guess you can call me &#8220;old school&#8221;.</p>
<p>But as much as I would like to I can&#8217;t always get there as often as I wish as I spend most of my days off from working shift work staying home with my 19 month old daughter while my wife is at work.</p>
<p>Some weeks I find it hard to get to the gym even 3 days a week so I had to adapt and tweak the Dad Fitness workouts.</p>
<p>So I designed a <a href="http://www.dadsfitness.com">workout routine</a> that focuses on 2 gym workouts a week and one bodyweight workout a week, totaling 3 short but intense workouts a week. &#8230;Which is all most of us really need to get in great shape anyway.</p>
<p>I have been loving this routine as I can get in 2 intense gym workouts a week and have no problem getting in the 3rd bodyweight workout as it can be done at home with minimal equipment, at the gym or even at my local playground when the weather permits.</p>
<p><strong>Now that&#8217;s the way workouts should be, they should fit around YOUR lifestyle, not the other way around like most programs you might find in the magazines</strong>.</p>
<p>I am building muscle, gaining strength and staying lean like never before and it&#8217;s all because of the intricate design of these workouts.</p>
<p><strong>Every exercise, Every rep and Every set</strong> is specifically selected and has a scientific reason for being in the program.</p>
<p>This gives you the complete &#8220;Training Triangle&#8221; to build muscle, gain strength and burn fat all in minimum time and in one simple <a href="http://www.dadfitness.com">3 day a week workout routine.</a></p>

<p>So here is the breakdown of what I like to call <strong>Dad Fitness 2.0</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>3 workouts a week consisting of 2 gym workouts and 1 bodyweight workout.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>The workouts rotate on a 2 week cycle meaning there is a Week 1 of workouts and a Week 2, before you repeat the same workouts.</li>
<li>Each routine is followed for 8 weeks allowing each weekly workout to be completed 4 times.</li>
</ul>
<p>This keeps my motivation high and prevents the dreaded training plateau by rotating exercises every 2 weeks instead of every week like most programs.</p>
<p>So here is an example of just of ONE of the weekly workout routines in the upcoming yet to be released <strong>Dad Fitness 2.0 Fitness Plan.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Day 1, Week 1, Gym </strong></p>
<p><strong>Chest, Shoulders and Triceps</strong></p>
<p>Decline Barbell Bench Press, 2 sets of 4-6 reps.</p>
<p>Incline Dumbbell Bench Press, 2 sets of 6-8 reps</p>
<p>Standing Barbell Shoulder Press, 2 sets of 4-6 reps</p>
<p>Standing Triple Threat Dumbbell Lateral Raise Superset, (side, front and rear) 2 sets of 6-8 reps each</p>
<p>Lying Flat Ez Bar Tricep Extensions, 2 sets of 4-6 reps</p>
<p>Tricep Cable Pushdowns, 2 sets of 6-8 reps</p>
<p>Cable Crunch, 2 sets of 8-10 reps</p>
<p><strong>Day 2, Week 1, Gym<br />
</strong></p>
<p><strong>Legs, Back and Biceps</strong></p>
<p>Barbell Squats, 2 sets of 4-6 reps</p>
<p>Dumbbell Lunges, 2 sets of 6-8 reps</p>
<p>Weighted Pullups, 2 sets of 4-6 reps</p>
<p>Bent Over Barbell Rows, 2 sets of 6-8 reps</p>
<p>Standing Barbell Curls, 2 sets of 4-6 reps</p>
<p>Standing Dumbbell Curls, 2 sets of 6-8 reps</p>
<p>Standing Calf Raise, 2 set of 8-10 reps</p>
<p><strong>Day 3, Week 1, Bodyweight</strong></p>
<p>One Leg Squats, 3 sets of max reps</p>
<p>Medicine Ball Pushups, 3 sets of max reps</p>
<p>Inverted Pullups, 3 sets of max reps</p>
<p>Dips, 3 sets of max reps</p>
<p>Parallel Grip Pullups, 3 sets of max reps</p>
<p>Front Plank, 2 set of 60 secs</p>
<p>Side Plank, 2 sets of 45 secs</p>
<p>I don&#8217;t have an exact date yet for the release of <strong>Dad Fitness 2.0</strong> but I am working hard to get it complete so it can be YOUR favorite workout of 2010!</p>

<p>I know you are probably feeling bad about all the eating and drinking you have been doing over the holidays.</p>
<p><strong>But guess what&#8230;It&#8217;s OK.</strong></p>
<p>Trust me I know how you feel. I ate and drank too much as well. But I am not worried and I don&#8217;t want you to worry either.</p>

<p>I know you still have New Years Eve to contend with but you don&#8217;t have to wait until the clock strikes 12 to make a commitment.</p>
<p>Start TODAY and ask yourself.</p>
<p><strong>&#8220;What are my goals? What are my behaviors?</strong></p>
<p>Do my behaviors match my goals?&#8221;</p>
<p>What you did in 2009 doesn&#8217;t matter &#8211; the year is GONE. Just be aware of how effective your behaviors were in reaching your goals.</p>
<p>The real question you should ask yourself is what will the next year hold for you?</p>
<p>So lets get to work on making this your best year ever!</p>
<p><strong>Want to know what workout routine has been working better for me as a busy dad than anything I have been doing all year?</strong></p>
<p>With a new year upon us we all try to start off with a sense of renewal regarding our health and happiness.</p>
<p>Regarding the <a href="http://www.dadfitness.com">Dad Fitness System</a>, I have been experimenting with a new approach to being a strong and fit dad.</p>
<p>With feedback from you living the Dad Fitness lifestyle and my personal experience I have been tweaking the program to give you even faster results.</p>

<p>But none of this means anything if you can&#8217;t adapt your workouts to your lifestyle.</p>

<p> <em style="display:none"><a href="http://johnquiggin.com/?forrest_gump">Forrest Gump dvd</a></em> As for me, I had a great workout this afternoon. I got to the gym at 11am instead of my usual 12pm this morning as my wife came home for lunch early so she let me out early, lol</p>
<p>Thanks to my properly designed <a href="http://www.dadfitness.com/">Dad Fitness workouts</a> I can get to the gym, warm up, workout, stretch and drive home, all within an hour to be back home to resume my daily duties as a stay at home dad with my baby daughter so my wife can head back to work.</p>
<p>&#8230;and I only need to do this workout 3 times a week so I don&#8217;t have to worry about fitting in a workout everyday!</p>
<p>Here is Day 1 of the <a href="http://www.dadfitness.com/">new workout routine</a> I started today that I will do for the next 3 weeks.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight:bold;">Day 1-Max Effort Upper Body</span></p>
<p>Weighted Dips, 1 max set of 3-5 reps<br />Flat DB Bench Press, 4 sets of 6-10 reps<br />Bent Over BB Row, 4 sets of 10-15 reps<br />Bent Over Cable Raise, 3 sets of 10-12<br />BB Side Bends, 3 sets of 8-12 reps</p>

<p>I sincerely hope you&#8217;re having a great weekend with your family and friends. </p>
<p>We had a fun day as it was Matea&#8217;s first Easter and it seems like Easter is the new Christmas, according to all the gifts she got!</p>
<p>Our friends knitted her the cute yellow outfit you see in the pics.</p>
<p>She is too young to dig into any chocolate bunnies yet but we did let her taste one of those yellow marshmallow &#8220;Peeps&#8221; or should I just call them yellow sugar.</p>
<p>As for me I am not a big fan of cheap sweet chocolate like you find in &#8220;Mr. Solid&#8221;.  I honestly prefer to enjoy a small piece of 85% rich dark chocolate that is actually good for you and great after a meal with a cup of green tea.</p>

<p>We got up this morning and headed to church and then my wife&#8217;s parents had an Easter egg hunt all setup for Matea at their house and we had lots of fun deciphering the clues trying to find the hidden treasures.</p>

<p>Then we all enjoyed an early Easter dinner with a big juicy turkey with all the trimmings. I had a little chocolate cake for dessert and that was that.</p>
<p>I don&#8217;t feel guilty about eating what I want on the weekends because I know that I will be back to eating healthy meals and doing my <a href="http://www.dadfitness.com/">Dad Fitness Workouts</a> come Monday.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight:bold;">Eat good healthy food 90% of the time and do <a href="http://www.dadfitness.com/">3 short fat loss workouts</a> a week</span> and you can burn off that belly fat and be a fit father while still enjoying the foods you love.</p>

<p>Spring is still a ways away here in Labrador, Canada, but any days above zero is good for me!</p>
<p>So this weekend my family and I headed down to our friends cabin for the night to enjoy the warm March temperatures, do some snowmobiling, snowshoeing and even a little ice fishing&#8230;but we didn&#8217;t have much luck with the fish.</p>

<p>But everyone else sure was&#8230; so when we got back to the cabin I fired up the BBQ, opened up a cold beer and grilled everyone steaks and turkey sausage, Mmmmm&#8230;</p>

<p>Our 10 month old baby daughter Matea really enjoyed her FIRST snowmobile ride and also loved watching the Grey Jays land in Daddy&#8217;s hand for a bite of cheese!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Today was workout day for me, and I really look forward to my 3 <a href="http://www.dadfitness.com/">Dad Fitness workouts</a> a week.</p>
<p>My wife comes home for lunch on Tuesdays and Thursday so I can get out of the house for a break and head to my local gym for an hour. I also get a workout in on the weekends.</p>
<p>I must admit I absolutely love working out!  I always have and especially now I found it to be a great stress reliever and a nice break in the middle of my long days as a stay at home dad.</p>
<p>I had a really great workout today as it was my Upper Body High Rep day in my current <a href="http://www.dadfitness.com/">workout routine. </a></p>
<p>The Blast Straps are an awesome way to challenge your entire body no matter what exercises you are doing.  You can use them for pushups, inverted rows, triceps, biceps, abs or pretty much any bodyweight exercise can be replicated with the blast straps.</p>
<p>I gotta tell you after using these for the first time awhile back doing pushups my abs were sore for 3 days afterward!</p>
<p>Blast Strap Pushups, 3 sets of 12 reps, 60 sec rest<br />Lying Dumbbell Tricep Extensions, 4 sets of 5-10 reps<br />Pull-Ups, 4 sets of 8-12 reps<br />Preacher Curls, 3 sets of 8-10 reps<br />Ab Circuit, Cross body mountain climbers and Planks, 2 rounds</p>

<p>Feeding her, changing her, putting her down for a nap, cooking and cleaning, repeat cycle until wife comes home&#8230;</p>
<p>Just another day living the <a href="http://www.dadfitness.com/">Dad Fitness Lifestyle</a>.</p>
<p>But I certainly know I had a workout yesterday as my hamstrings are sore as hell from all the leg work!</p>
<p>After we all had breakfast and my wife headed off to work I got started on prepping dinner while Matea was playing in her exersaucer in the kitchen.</p>
<p>On today&#8217;s Dad Fitness Menu is Enchiladas.  Made with wholesome and healthy ingredients that will rival any artery popping Enchiladas at your local Chilis, Fridays, Tuesdays or whatever they call some of these restaurants these days!</p>
<p>You can feel good about feeding your family REAL food that everyone will love and will keep you <a href="http://www.dadfitness.com/">burning off that belly fat</a> with your workouts.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight:bold;">Just be sure to keep the portions under control and have one Enchilada with a side salad.</span></p>
<p>That&#8217;s the SECRET to eating good food and staying fit!</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s the recipe.
<ul>
<li>                                     1 pound extra lean ground beef</li>
<li>                                     1 small onion, chopped</li>
<li>6 whole wheat tortillas</li>
<li>                                     2 cups  low fat shredded cheese</li>
<li>                                     1 (2.25 ounce) can sliced black olives, drained</li>
<li>1 can of black beans</li>
</ul>
<p>*Feel free to add some diced bell peppers or chopped spinach if you want to increase the nutritional value. Your kids will never know;-) I was all out so I used what I had.
<ol>
<li><span> Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In a medium skillet over medium high heat, cook the ground beef and onion until beef is evenly browned and onion is tender. </span></li>
<li><span> Prepare the enchilada sauce according to  directions. </span>
<p><span style="font-weight:bold;">Healthy Homemade Enchilada Sauce</span></li>
</ol>
<p><span style="font-size:100%;"></span>
<div class="ingredients">
<ul>
<li>             2 tablespoons <a>olive oil</a>     </li>
<li> 2 tablespoons whole wheat flour     </li>
<li> 2 tablespoons chili powder     </li>
<li> 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin     </li>
<li> 1 cup tomato sauce     </li>
<li> 2 cups water     </li>
<li> 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder            </li>
</ul></div>
<ol>
<li><span class="recipetext">Heat oil in large 2-quart saucepan; stir in flour and chili powder cook for 1 minute. </span><span class="recipetext">Add remaining ingredients bring to a boil and simmer for about 10 minutes.</span>    </li>
<li><span>Pour 1/4 cup of the sauce into the bottom of a 9&#215;13 inch baking dish. </span></li>
<li><span> On each flour tortilla, place an equal portion of the ground beef mixture and about 1 ounce of Cheddar cheese, reserving at least 1/2 cup of cheese.<br /></span></li>

Then tightly roll the tortillas and place seam side down in the baking dish. </span></p>

Pour the remaining sauce over the top of the enchiladas and sprinkle with the remaining cheese and olives. </span></p>
