<p>Our baby daughter Matea turned the big #1 on Saturday and celebrated her 1st Birthday!</p>

<p>I have to say it&#8217;s been the most challenging AND the most rewarding year of my life.</p>
<p>Looking back I don&#8217;t know how I survived on such little sleep!</p>
<p>But when you are suddenly responsible for another little life, you find a way to do what you have to do to be the best damn dad you can be.</p>
<p>Which also involves not forgetting to take care of myself&#8230;. I don&#8217;t want to be huffing and puffing and out of breath when I am running around the backyard playing with my daughter because I neglected to take time for myself and stay fit with just <a href="http://www.dadfitness.com/">3 short workouts a week.</a></p>
<p>Despite being a busy dad working full-time up to 60 hours a week and running a business on the side , with my <a href="http://www.dadfitness.com/">Dad Fitness workouts</a> the only weight I gained during the past year has been my 25lb beautiful baby daughter.</p>
<p>I am actually down a few pounds to about 175lbs and a little leaner, compared to this time last year. But I am feeling healthier and stronger than I have ever been thanks to paying extra attention to my warm ups, mobility and my flexibility during my workouts.</p>
<p>I keep things pretty simple with <a href="http://www.dadfitness.com/">short intense workouts</a> and eating REAL food most of the time.</p>
<p>I work hard in the gym but more importantly work hard at home being a dad, a husband and a man.</p>
<p>That weight on my shoulders is something that I never want to lose&#8230;</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I managed to push myself to the gym this morning despite feeling a little under the weather. Sniff&#8230;sniff</p>
<p>Now that my thumb is feeling better again after a few days rest, I am fighting off a nasty head cold!</p>
<p>After my wife getting the same cold last week, I knew it was going to be hard to avoid catching this.</p>
<p>I feel the most for our 6 month old baby daughter Matea as she has no choice but to be surrounded by the both of us. I really hope she don&#8217;t end up with it as well!</p>
<p>After slowing getting up after a night of tossing and turning I brewed a hot cup of green tea and had a bowl of hot oatmeal with blueberries.</p>
<p>The workout I did this morning was a workout from one of the youngest and brightest trainers in the industry, Nate Green.</p>
<p>Nate just sent me an advanced copy of his new book, <a href="http://www.builtforshow.com/">Built For Show</a>.</p>
<p>I haven&#8217;t had a chance to read through the book yet but decided to give one of the workouts a try this morning.</p>
<p>I started with Workout A of his &#8220;Fall&#8221; training program.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t let the title of his book fool you.  Even though Nate who is only 23 years old wrote this book for young guys who want to look good for the ladies, it has actually gives you state of the art workouts for any one of any age that will have you building lean FUNCTIONAL muscle while stripping away bodyfat.</p>
<p>I will post a complete book review for <a href="http://www.builtforshow.com/">Built For Show</a> when I read through it.</p>

<p>I have no idea how I did it but I have no grip strength and can barely lift a pencil!</p>
<p>Usually I take a week off from the gym every 8 weeks or so anyway to give my body and mind a break from hard training.  I will be starting a new workout routine Monday and will let you know how it goes.</p>

<p>I find hard boiled eggs to be a quick and easy snack if you boil a whole bunch of eggs at once and stick them in the fridge.</p>
<p>But peeling the damn things are time consuming and annoying!</p>
<p>I usually get my wife to do it as she has more patience than me&#8230;</p>
<p>But here is a super easy way to peel the eggs without actually peeling them!</p>
<p>This video is by Tim Ferris, the author of the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/4-Hour-Workweek-Escape-Live-Anywhere/dp/0307353133/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1216899132&amp;sr=1-1">Four Hour Workweek.</a></p>
<p>An awesome book that I highly recommend for you busy dads to save time and spend more time with your family. </p>

<p>Well, doing short interval cardio workouts have been proven in studies to burn 9 times more fat than long boring cardio.</p>
<p>Who has an extra hour anyway to spend walking on a treadmill like a hamster while reading a magazine hoping to burn enough calories to melt off those excess pounds?</p>

<p>With the <a href="http://www.dadfitness.com">Dad Fitness workouts</a> you build muscle and burn fat in the same short workout.</p>
<p>Today was my off day from the gym, but I decided to do a fat burning interval session on my home treadmill.  After only 15 short minutes I was soaked, and I drove my metabolism into high gear all day.</p>
<p>Here is how I did my Interval Cardio workout today on the treadmill.  I used a one minute sprint paired with a 2 minute recovery walk.</p>
<p>5 mins-Warmup of walking<br />5-6 mins- Sprint<br />6-8- Walk<br />8-9 Sprint<br />9-11 Walk<br />11-12 Sprint<br />12-14 Walk<br />14-15 Sprint<br />15-20 Cooldown walk</p>
